INDIA, BANGLADESH, PAKISTAN AND SRI LANKA

This page is aimed at those who have the need to provide documents for use in these Countries.
The requirements of these Countries vary in detail but all are happy to receive documents in English, produced here, so long as they conform to certain formalities.
If you need them translating into the local language, this can be arranged, but is rarely needed.
Sometimes an interpreter may be required and again this can be arranged.

Powers of Attorney
These are the most common of documents required, usually by family members to authorise someone they trust to represent them in dealings with land, bank accounts or other property of theirs or left to them by a deceased parent. There are particular requirements to be observed and essential elements:

INDIA
Copy passport certified by Notary.
2 additional witnesses.
Passport photo to be attached.
Stamp of Indian High Commission to be obtained. (Sometimes not required).
Stamp duty to be paid in India within 3 months.

BANGLADESH
Valid passports for all signing.
Stamp of Bangladesh High Commission to be obtained.

PAKISTAN
Valid passports for all signing.
Stamp of Pakistan High Commission to be obtained.

SRI LANKA
Valid passports for all signing.
Stamp of Sri Lanka High Commission to be obtained.
